Micah 7:5-7
5 Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.
6 For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.
7 Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
Life can sometimes bring unexpected betrayals, even from those closest to us. We've all exprerienced the pain of being let down from a loved one.
In fact, we should not place ultimate trust in friends, spouses, or even close family members because human beings, despite their best intentions, can fail us.
Verse 5 tells us, "Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom."
This verse doesn’t mean we should be unreasonably or perpetually suspicious of everyone around us, but it reminds us of the fallibility of human nature.
Friends may disappoint, family may mislead, and even those we hold dearest may betray our trust. God is reminding us not to trust in a humans because we are imperfect.
Verse 6 tells us, "For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house."
God is highlighting our hearts here. Because we are flawed, we cannot truly love our family members the way God can.
Feelings get hurt in the process even though we try to love one another.
We all want to love and support each other but these relationships, can sometimes become sources of deep hurt.
Amidst such betrayal and broken trust, verse 7 offers a profound solution, "Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me."
Sure human relationships may fail us, but God can never fail. God is not fallible, he is faithful!
He is the ultimate source of trust and salvation. Turning to God in times of betrayal offers peace and strength, knowing that He will never forsake us.
Unlike humans who may misunderstand or betray us, God always hears us. He listens to our cries, our pain, and our needs.
We can wait and rely on God at any given moment. Yes humans, the world, and even your family members may let you down. But God will never fail you!
