Exodus 25:10-11 (KJV)
10 And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
11 And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.
For this weeks bible study on Exodus 25, we see the divine construction of the tabernacle. The tabernacle was a place to offer holy sacrifices to the Lord in the old days before Jesus' time.
It's very significant and foreshadows Jesus coming to offer the eternal sacrifice.
In Exodus 25:10-11, God instructs the construction of the Ark of the Covenant, specifying the use of shittim wood, also known as acacia wood. This wood is bent, flimsly, and gnarled in appearance, symbolizing our human condition. We, like the acacia wood, are flawed and imperfect. Our lives are plagued by weaknesses and failings, and we often find ourselves bending under the weight of life's challenges.
Despite its imperfections, God chose acacia wood for one of the most sacred objects in the Israelites' worship—the Ark of the Covenant.
This choice demonstrates that God values and chooses to use us, even in our flawed imperfect state. He transforms us to be used for his divine purpose.
God commanded that the acacia wood be overlaid with pure gold, both inside and out. Gold, in the Bible, represents God's divinity, glory, and purity. It is a symbol of what is incorruptible and eternal. Just as the gold covered the acacia wood, so does God's glory and righteousness cover us. Through Jesus Christ, we are clothed in righteousness (Isaiah 61:10 KJV), not because of our own merits, but because of His divine grace.
Gold’s incorruptibility is a powerful symbol of God's nature.
Unlike wood that can decay and rot, gold does not tarnish or corrode. This incorruptible quality reflects God's eternal and unchanging nature. When we are covered by God's righteousness, we share in this incorruptibility. Our earthly imperfections are overshadowed by His divine glory that purifies and preserves us.
Genesis 2:10-12 describes the land of Havilah, where there is good gold. The abundance of gold in this land signifies the abundance of God's blessings. Just as the gold flowed abundantly, God's grace and mercy flow freely to cover our imperfections. His provision is not scarce but overflowing, offering us more than we could ever need or deserve.
Understanding that we are like acacia wood—flawed yet chosen—covered in the divine glory of God, changes how we view ourselves and our purpose. It humbles us and reminds us that any goodness or worth we have is only because of God's grace.

Job 5:17 (KJV)
17 Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty.
God never punishes us but he does discipline when needed. It is a blessing to be corrected by God because His discipline is an expression of His love for us. Just like a loving parent corrects their child to guide them on the right path, our Heavenly Father correct us to help us grow and mature in our faith. God's correction came in the form of the Rod which was Jesus Christ and the gospel. The gospel breaks all barriers in our mind and sets up on the correct path, reconciling us back to God.
While God's discipline can sometimes seem painful, it is never meant to harm us. It's mean to help us distrust our thoughts and return back to his word.
Jesus' sacrifice on the cross was the greatest corrective act in history, addressing the root of all our sin. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus provided the way for us to be reconciled with God, correcting the brokenness caused by our sin. God allows us to experience pain and suffering as part of His corrective process. These experiences, though difficult, are opportunities for us to grow.
He uses it to mold our character, refine our faith, and draw us closer to Him.
Even in correction, God's purpose is to bring about good in our lives. He ultimately wants us to place our focus back on the gospel. God wants us to embrace his correction by trusting His wisdom and love, even when we don't fully understand.
His ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts as well. Sadly most people live in front of man. They decide what is right, wrong, discipline, and punishment. God wants us to focus on the gospel and use that as the standard for correction. I hope everyone can embrace God and his merciful correction that leads to deeper growth and maturity in spirituality.

Psalm 80:19 (KJV)
19 Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
Many of us struggle with the flesh. At times we wish we didn't have such shortcomings. But the turn is we cannot turn ourselves away from our own wickedness. Only God has the power to transform our hearts and restore us through the gospel. The repetition of this verse three times emphasizes the critical truth that it is God who initiates our return to Him. Anything repeated thee times in the Bible represent what is being repeated in completion. What this means is context is that God has to turn us away from that sin and save us. We are incapable of saving ourselves.
Despite our best efforts, we are powerless to overcome our sinful nature. This verse acknowledges that true repentance and restoration come solely from God's grace.
It is not by our own strength or righteousness that we are saved, but by the mercy and grace of God. The number 3 represents divine completeness. It is through Jesus' sacrifice we are saved. He is the divine one who turns our hearts back to God and causes His face to shine upon us.
God's shining face is a metaphor for His blessing and grace.
When God turns us to Himself and shines His face upon us, our salvation is secure. This is not because of anything we have done but because of the finished work of Christ. God is truly loving and merciful. I am thankful he did not place the responsibility of turning away from our sins on us. He placed that on Jesus who took those sins to the cross.

Proverbs 24:16 (KJV)
16 For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
Every believer faces trials and failures in our lives. The verse does not say "if" a just man will fall, it actually points to "when" he falls he rises up again. It's inevitable that we will fail but it's also true that we will rise up again. The ability to rise after falling is not rooted in our strength. It is solely because of Jesus Christ and his merciful grace. He is the one who lifts us up and restores us. He paid the price for our sins—past, present, and future. Through His resurrection, He conquered sin and death, giving us the power to overcome any and all obstacles.
Our identity is not defined by our failures but by the blood of Jesus Christ.
In Christ, we are forgiven, redeemed, and made new. When we stumble, we should remember this turn to God's grace and mercy. Our identity is found in Christ and His righteousness, not in our shortcomings or lackings. God knows that we will face struggles and temptations. That's why He provides us with support through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and core of the heart. The servants of God—pastors, mentors, and fellow Christians—are given to us to offer guidance, encouragement, and accountability. I'm here to help you navigate your spiritual journey and keep you aligned with the gospel always.
Without failing, we cannot experience God's grace consantly. Every time we fall, it causes us to self-reflect on the mercy of God. It allows us to think about his heart in each situation. It's a good reminder to not trust ourselves and trust the word of God.
No matter how many times we may fall, the end result is always getting back up. That is made possible only through the blood of Jesus. How thankful is that!

Isiah 43:2
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Many times we try to feel God's presence and protection in our lives. We go through many hardships and it can be difficult to see God in those situations. God recorded these verse for assurance. He wanted to assure us that he is with us even when it doesn't seem like it.
No matter the circumstances, we are never alone.
God uses the symbolism and imagery of water because times we feel submerged by trials, anxieties, or uncertainties. But in all this, God promises that these waters will not overflow us. This is a testament to His sustaining power, ensuring that we will never be consumed by our struggles. Walking through fire represents intense trials and suffering. The promise that we "shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee" is proof of God’s protection even in the most fiery ordeals. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, God is with us, shielding us from harm through the gospel.
If you're hungry, preach the gospel. Difficult? Preach the gospel. Angry? Preach the gospel. Lonely? Preach the gospel. The gospel overcomes all things.
The ultimate protection and fulfillment is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus secured our eternal safety and reconciliation with God. Because Jesus faced the ultimate trial on the cross, we can be confident that He is with us in every trial we face. That is why we are more than conquerors.
On the cross, He endured the full weight of our sins so that we would never have to face trials alone. In fact, His resurrection assures us of victory over sin and death.
Because of Jesus' sacrifice, we have nothing to worry about. Our eternal security is guaranteed. That same Jesus is with us even today. He is there with us every time and all the time.
This truth helps us face life’s challenges with confidence and peace. We know that God is with us, guiding us through the waters and protecting us in the fire. Our faith is anchored in the gospel. Jesus has already won the ultimate victory, and nothing can separate us from His love.

In Exodus 24:1, Moses is commanded to bring seventy elders of Israel to worship afar off. The number 70 holds significant biblical symbolism, and it represents completion and judgement.
Jesus also appointed seventy disciples for his complete mission to spread the gospel. The seventy elders in Exodus serve as a governing body, representing the complete community of Israel, much like the seventy disciples represent the comprehensive mission of the church.
